The Somerset Valley Orchestra under the direction of director, Emily Bengels

Welcome to the Somerset Valley Orchestra.

The Somerset Valley Orchestra began in the fall of 1974 as a class in the Jointure for Community Adult Education.  Originally SVO had only 17 members; today it has grown to about 50.  The orchestra is proud to continue its affiliation with the Jointure.

The orchestra's mission, from its beginning, has been educational - its director is an instructor in the Jointure - while presenting concerts to the community

No auditions have ever been held.  The orchestra members rely upon their own abilities and interests.

Rehearsal information:

The Somerset Valley Orchestra rehearses on Thursday evenings, at 7:30 PM in cafeteria B of the Bridgewater Raritan Middle School.  We have opeinings in all sections.  No auditions are reequired, and there is no age limit for membership

To the fullest extent possible, the Orchestra will continue to do all in its power to make sure that the American with Disabilities Act and related regulations are followed at all of our rehearsals and performances, and that the facilities used by the Orchestra are in compliance with all ADA regulations. Specifically, the Orchestra will continue to hold rehearsals and performances at facilities that offer adequate handicap parking places, handicap-accessible rest rooms, wheel chair access and other accommodations for the disabled. We will also make our concert programs available in large type print, and will seat those with impaired hearing or eyesight in the front row. It is the policy of the Somerset Valley Orchestra to provide reasonable accommodations to any person with disabilities upon reasonable notice, and to advise persons with disabilities that these accommodations are available upon request. This information will be included in all press releases of the Orchestra and will also be printed in our brochures, programs and on our web site.
